Social Enterprise Place

Cambridgeshire has a diverse range of social enterprises, ranging from well-established social enterprises, to start up social enterprise. Cambridgeshire has a history of innovation and this is demonstrated in the range of markets and social issues these enterprises address. A recent survey showed that social enterprises are working to address a range of social issues such as financial exclusion, homelessness, recycling, unemployment and disabilities.

Resilience Place Series

Celebrating Local Social Enterprise Leadership

SEEE champions the development of Social Enterprise Places—towns, cities, and regions that recognise, support, and celebrate their thriving social enterprise communities.

Through this initiative, we help places build stronger local ecosystems by encouraging collaboration, raising awareness, and showcasing the positive impact of social enterprises.

Working with local authorities, businesses, and community groups, we support the journey to becoming an officially recognised Social Enterprise Place, helping to unlock new opportunities, attract investment, and embed social enterprise into the fabric of local life.

Launching the Resilience Series

Since 2022 the Resilience Place series has focused on supporting the Cambridgeshire third sector as they reimagined themselves post-pandemic. An advisory group of local social enterprises helped advise SEEE on what the local sector needed and helped shape what events should take place across the County.

Sector specific events for Cambridgeshire

A series of in-person social enterprise marketplaces have been held to aid networking and help organisations regroup after the pandemic. The strong Cambs sectors identified for this work was Sustainability and the Environment, Health and Wellbeing and Housing and Homelessness.

A strong strategy for the Cambridgeshire third sector

The network now focuses on sharing information for Cambridgeshire organisations and events will be planned in the future. Targeted work is taking place as part of the Vision Programme which is sponsored by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. This programme features business advise, events and community-focussed projects along with a portal of dedicated resources for all types of third sector organisations to access. Cambridgeshire Social Enterprise Place

SEEE has worked across Cambridgeshire supporting Cambridgeshire to become a recognised Social Enterprise County which is part of the national Social Enterprise Places Network. These networks represent a growing local commitment to social enterprise and the power of communities working together to create lasting impact.
