Cambridgeshire has a diverse range of social enterprises, ranging from well-established social enterprises, to start up social enterprise. Cambridgeshire has a history of innovation and this is demonstrated in the range of markets and social issues these enterprises address. A recent survey showed that social enterprises are working to address a range of social issues such as financial exclusion, homelessness, recycling, unemployment and disabilities.

Resilience Place Series

Celebrating Local Social Enterprise Leadership

SEEE champions the development of Social Enterprise Places—towns, cities, and regions that recognise, support, and celebrate their thriving social enterprise communities.

Through this initiative, we help places build stronger local ecosystems by encouraging collaboration, raising awareness, and showcasing the positive impact of social enterprises.

Working with local authorities, businesses, and community groups, we support the journey to becoming an officially recognised Social Enterprise Place, helping to unlock new opportunities, attract investment, and embed social enterprise into the fabric of local life.

NOVEMBER 2022

Launching the Resilience Series

A wide range of social enterprises came together as part of a new Resilience series, this first webinar included keynote speaker Clare Ellis, Head of Procurement from Cambridgeshire County Council who discussed Social Value procurement and opportunities for the local social enterprise economy. We also heard resilience stories from Romsey Mill, Form the Future and ABC Life Support.

Forming the Advisory Group

An Advisory Group of key partners and some Cambs Social Enterprises join together to help shape the future direction of Cambridgeshire Social Enterprise Place activities and meet regularly during early 2023 to plan how to support the local eco-system.

Health & Wellbeing Spotlight Event

Our first in-person event took place at Allia Future Business Centre Cambridge Campus shining a spotlight on those working in the health and wellbeing sector across Cambs. The event brought together local businesses, entrepreneurs, social ventures, VCSE organisations, commissioners and local authority representatives. Those taking part contribute to wellbeing by working in mental and physical health, creative arts, cultural services, the circular economy, housing and homelessness and the Integrated Care Systems (ICS) sector.
